Job Description

This temporary position will be located in Washington, D.C. and will be responsible for managing the marketing activities. This position will support the industry group leader in executing various initiatives to raise visibility and develop business growth opportunities in the industry.  Working closely with the business development managers for the practices, the industry manager will execute cross practice pitches and proposals; coordinate logistics for sponsorships, memberships, and speaking engagements; and manage day to day marketing activities.   

 

Job Requirements

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implements business growth strategies for the an science group. Coordinates and connects the firm wide industry experience and leads cross-practice efforts to raise visibility and drive business growth in the sector, including cross-practice working groups, conferences and events, social media, and other strategies.
  • Manages RFPs, pitches and proposals from initial planning with the attorney team through to final submission. Creates compelling, customized pitch material tailored to specific opportunities.
  • Plans and manages logistics for targeted industry conferences, speaking engagements, and memberships.
  • Coordinates with Events team to host in-person client programs, webinars, and other special events for Industry Group.
  • Works with Social Media team to develop posts to promote industry activities on the firm’s channels.
  • Leads the strategy and execution for industry-focused directory and award submissions.
  • Oversees work product of junior BD Team member(s).

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years managerial marketing experience in professional services or law firm. Legal marketing experience preferred in Life Science experience a plus.
  • Experience with key research tools and databases, including experience, billing, client contacts and other web based research tools.
  • Experience with InterAction, Foundation, and other Marketing databases.
  • Prior supervisory experience.
