Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer II / Legal Editor to support a legal organization by editing and reviewing complex legal decisions. The ideal candidate will work closely with attorneys and legal professionals to ensure documents are accurate, clearly written, properly formatted, and ready for publication. Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to pass a background investigation. 

 

 Responsibilities

  • Edit draft orders, decisions, and other legal documents for grammar, punctuation, syntax, clarity, consistency, and style.
  • Ensure compliance with established editorial standards, formatting requirements, and legal citation guidelines.
  • Verify legal citations and references for accuracy and consistency.
  • Review legal documents for completeness and accuracy.
  • Utilize legal research tools and source materials to validate references and supporting information.
  • Examine pleadings, administrative records, and related documentation as necessary.
  • Partner with attorneys, judges, and professional staff to produce high-quality written work.
  • Provide editorial support for special projects and organizational initiatives.
  • Serve as a trusted resource for document quality and publication standards.

 

Schedule: Full-Time or Part-Time in office 

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Advanced degree, paralegal certification, editing certification, or related credentials.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of professional writing, editing, technical writing, or document review experience.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, error-free work.
  • Strong written communication and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Experience editing legal, governmental, regulatory, administrative, or other highly technical documents.
  • Familiarity with legal citation standards, including The Bluebook.
  • Experience using legal research platforms such as Westlaw or similar tools.
  • Experience with WordPerfect or the ability to quickly learn new software applications.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background investigation
