Job Description

The candidate will provide transactional paralegal support with the in-house legal department of one of the largest real estate development and property management companies in the Washington, DC region.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft leases, amendments, license agreements, purchase and sale agreements, exhibits, and other legal documents for attorney review.
  • Review legal documents from other departments and external parties, revising and preparing drafts with comments for attorney review.
  • Proofread, finalize, and prepare documents for execution and facilitate the execution process as needed.
  • Update lease forms, project site plans, and other exhibits, and maintain a library of lease clauses.
  • Research legal issues, such as exclusive and prohibited uses, building restrictions, and prepare summary documents.
  • Review loan documents and maintain detailed documents regarding lender contact information and approval requirements for leases.
  • Delegate administrative tasks and coordinate with legal administrative staff.
  • Collaborate with the legal team to enhance processes and procedures.
  • Take on additional tasks as assigned by attorneys.
  • Occasional overtime may be required to meet workload demands.

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of experience as a real estate paralegal, preferably in retail leasing and mixed-use property structures.
  • A completed Bachelor's degree (preferably in Paralegal Studies or a related field).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Photoshop, and document management systems.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and critical thinking skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize tasks independently with minimal supervision.
  • A strong work ethic, initiative, and the ability to quickly learn new responsibilities.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate effectively within the legal department and across other departments.
  • Four days in office are required.
