Job Description

The candidate will provide transactional paralegal support to the in-house legal department of one of the largest and most prominent real estate development and property management companies in the Washington, DC region. This role will focus on assisting with high-level real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, and development projects.

 

Responsibilities: 

• Draft leases, amendments, license agreements, purchase and sale agreements, exhibits, and other legal documents for attorney review.
• Review legal documents prepared by other departments and external parties, revising drafts with comments for attorney approval.
• Proofread and finalize documents for execution by relevant parties, ensuring all steps are completed for execution as required.
• Maintain and update lease forms, project site plans, and other documents and exhibits, ensuring a comprehensive library of lease clauses is kept current.
• Conduct research on exclusive and prohibited uses, building restrictions, and other legal matters, preparing both verbatim and summary documents.
• Review loan documents and maintain both verbatim and summarized records, including lender contact details and specific lender approval requirements for leases.
• Oversee administrative tasks and coordinate with legal administrative staff to ensure smooth workflow.
• Work collaboratively with legal department colleagues to enhance processes and procedures.
• Perform additional tasks as directed by attorneys.
• Occasional overtime may be necessary depending on workload and deadlines.

 

Job Requirements

Requirements 

• A minimum of five years’ experience providing paralegal support in real estate, preferably with a focus on retail leasing, retail centers, and mixed-use properties, including related documents and requirements.
• A completed Bachelor’s degree, ideally in Paralegal Studies or a related field.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Photoshop, and document management software.
• Strong ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks independently, with exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and critical thinking skills, with a keen eye for detail.
• A solid work ethic, proactive attitude, and the ability to quickly adapt to new responsibilities.
• A team-oriented approach, with the ability to collaborate effectively within the legal department and across other departments.
