Now Hiring: Maintenance Technician
Location: Silver Spring, MD
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
NRI Staffing is seeking a reliable, skilled Maintenance Technician to support daily building operations and provide in-unit service to residents. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with strong general maintenance experience who can work independently.
Position Overview
This role will be the sole maintenance professional on-site, responsible for handling a wide range of repairs and preventative maintenance throughout the building and individual units. The ideal candidate is personable, self-sufficient, and experienced in residential maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform general maintenance, repairs, and unit service requests
• Handle plumbing issues including leaks, faucet repairs, and fixture replacements
• Complete light electrical work such as replacing outlets, switches, and fixtures
• Conduct drywall repairs, painting, and general upkeep
• Maintain and repair doors, closets, and window screens
• Diagnose and resolve issues related to convectors, boilers, and chillers
• Address and troubleshoot water leaks and related issues
• Provide excellent customer service when interacting with residents
Unit Maintenance Tasks Include
Kitchen:
• Faucet replacement and leak repairs (traps, joints, gaskets)
• Light bulb and appliance light replacements
• Cabinet and drawer adjustments/repairs
• GFCI outlet replacement
Bathrooms:
• Toilet repairs (running water, flushing issues, replacements)
• Faucet, shower head, and tub spout repairs/replacements
• Caulking sinks and bathtubs
• Leak repairs under sinks
• Fixture replacements (towel bars, curtain rods, toilet seats, etc.)
Doors & Interior Repairs:
• Closet, bi-fold, and interior door repairs and adjustments
• Track repairs, shaving doors for proper fit, hardware replacement
Miscellaneous:
• Light fixture and switch replacements
• Window screen repair and track cleaning
• Door hardware repairs (locks, closers, sweeps)
• Hanging fixtures (mirrors, pictures as appropriate)

Qualifications
• Experience in general building maintenance required
• Knowledge of ProPress systems preferred
• Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems
• Familiarity with boilers, chillers, and convectors
• Ability to identify and safely work in environments where asbestos is present
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
• Personable with good communication skills

• This is a solo maintenance role (no assistant on-site)
• Building provides in-unit service for residents
