Job Description

A leading outpatient surgical organization is seeking an experienced Clinical Director to oversee clinical operations within a specialized ambulatory surgery environment. This leadership role will direct perioperative services, quality improvement, regulatory compliance, infection prevention, staff development, and workflow optimization while partnering with physicians and administrative teams to deliver exceptional patient care and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee daily clinical operations across surgical and procedural services
  • Manage pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative patient care standards
  • Ensure safe, efficient operating room utilization and patient flow
  • Develop and maintain clinical policies, procedures, and evidence-based standards
  • Partner with physicians to improve clinical programs and operational performance
  • Lead accreditation readiness, regulatory compliance, and quality initiatives
  • Direct QAPI, patient safety, infection prevention, and risk management programs
  • Oversee medication safety, controlled substance compliance, and clinical documentation standards
  • Manage emergency preparedness programs, drills, and staff readiness
  • Recruit, mentor, evaluate, and develop nursing and clinical teams
  • Maintain staffing standards, competencies, certifications, and ongoing education
  • Optimize workflows, technology implementation, supply management, and clinical efficiency

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington, DC
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN preferred)
  • Significant experience in surgical services, perioperative nursing, ambulatory surgery, or procedural care
  • Proven clinical leadership and healthcare management experience
  • Strong knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, infection prevention, and ambulatory surgery regulations
  • Experience with accreditation surveys, regulatory inspections, and quality improvement programs
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) leadership experience
  • Background in plastic surgery, cosmetic surgery, or office-based surgical settings
  • Experience with budgeting, inventory management, and vendor relationships
