Job Description

Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm

Be available in the office five days a week to ensure consistent support and effective communication.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Research relevant case law to support legal arguments and strategies in divorce, child custody, spousal support, and other family law matters.
  • Review and interpret statutes and regulations pertinent to family law.
  • Identify precedents that could impact current cases.
  • Draft and prepare petitions, complaints, and answers.
  • Prepare motions for temporary orders, custody arrangements, or spousal support.
  • Draft affidavits to support motions or other filings.
  • Prepare interrogatories and requests for production to gather necessary information from the opposing party.
  • Draft letters to clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
  • Edit and review correspondence to ensure clarity, accuracy, and professionalism.
  • Assist in drafting and revising settlement agreements, prenuptial agreements, and post nuptial agreements.
  • Ensure agreements comply with legal standards and accurately reflect the terms negotiated.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients to update them on case progress, gather information, and provide support.
  • Address client concerns and questions with professionalism and empathy.
  • Communicate with opposing counsel to negotiate settlements or discuss case details.
  • Interact with court personnel to schedule hearings, file documents, and ensure case management.
  • Maintain and organize physical and digital case files.
  • Ensure all documents are filed correctly and accessible for all team members.
  • Implement a systematic approach to manage case documents and evidence.
  • Track deadlines and ensure timely filing and submission of documents.
  • Assist in preparing exhibits, witness lists, and trial briefs.
  • Coordinate with experts, witnesses, and other parties involved in the trial.
  • Prepare deposition outlines and questions.
  • Organize deposition transcripts and exhibits for review.
  • Manage the discovery phase by overseeing document production and responses to interrogatories.
  • Ensure compliance with discovery requests and deadlines.
  • Review and organize discovery documents for relevance and accuracy.
  • Assist in drafting responses to discovery requests.
  • Provide administrative and legal support to all four attorneys in the firm.
  • Assist in managing attorney calendars, deadlines, and meetings.
  • Work closely with the Firm Administrator to ensure smooth office operations.
  • Help with tasks such as scheduling, billing, and office management.
  • Stay updated on changes in family law and legal procedures.
  • Participate in relevant training and professional development opportunities.
  • Utilize legal research tools, case management software, and other technology to enhance efficiency.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Must be flexible for routine and last-minute overtime
  • Must have excellent client service skills,
  • Strong Word & Excel Skills
  • Knowledge of Northern VA Courts to include:  Fairfax, Arlington, Prince William, Loudon and Alexandria.
  • Must have experience e-filing
