Job Description

 The candidate will provide paralegal support to two attorneys with the in-house retail legal department of one of the largest real estate development and property management companies in the Washington, DC region.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Prepare drafts of leases, amendments, license agreements, exhibits and other legal documents for attorney review.
  • Proofread and prepare final versions of documents for execution by the parties.
  • Prepare and update lease forms, project site plans and other forms and exhibits and maintain library of lease clauses.
  • Research leasing and building restrictions and other legal issues and prepare verbatim and summary documents.
  • Organize and update binders with closing documents for purchase/sale transactions and underlying documents for each project.
  • Coordinate with Accounting department to update and maintain lease abstracts.
  • Delegate administrative tasks and supervise Retail Legal Assistant.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by attorneys.
  • Overtime may be required occasionally based upon workload and deadlines.

Job Requirements

Requirements:

 

  • At least 5 year of experience providing paralegal support (preferably related to commercial real estate and retail leasing).
  • Completed Bachelor’s degree program (preferably in Paralegal Studies or related area of study).
  • Background in real estate/
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Proficiency with transactional and data management applications (such as VTS or other comparable applications) a plus.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks with minimal supervision and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong work ethic with initiative and capacity to learn new responsibilities quickly.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team player with other department support staff.
