Job Description

A federal government legal office in Washington, DC is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal for a full-time, on-site opportunity. This role supports attorneys and litigation teams across a broad range of legal functions, requiring discretion, independent judgment, and specialized knowledge of laws, regulations, and judicial proceedings.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on litigation support experience, strong research and analytical skills, and the ability to hit the ground running in a fast-paced legal environment.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Examine and evaluate case files to assess litigation worthiness and applicable areas of law
  • Conduct legal research and assist in the preparation of legal opinions and substantive analyses
  • Determine the need for additional evidence, witnesses, and information; develop strategies to obtain them
  • Review records, conduct on-site visits, and evaluate the relevance and value of evidence
  • Select, summarize, and compile comparative data to support case development
  • Analyze economic trends and assess the impact of ongoing investigations and litigation outcomes
  • Identify relevant record-keeping systems and gather, sort, and interpret data from various sources, including computer information systems
  • Interview and prepare witnesses for court appearances
  • Develop statistical analyses (standard deviations, regression analyses, weighting) and create charts, graphs, and tables to support case litigation
  • Provide ongoing support to attorneys throughout case progression, including developing exhibits, maintaining custody of documents, and providing administrative assistance

 

 

 

Job Requirements

Requirements

  • 2–3 years of litigation paralegal experience required
  • Proficiency with Relativity or similar e-discovery/litigation support software
  • Experience with cite checking, Bluebook, and trial preparation
  • Ability to analyze legislative developments, administrative decisions, and judicial rulings
  • Strong research, writing, and organizational skills
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in a sensitive legal environment
  • Must be able to work 100% on-site, five days per week
