Job Description

The Legal Assistant will support a team of attorneys handling labor and employment litigation (defense) before administrative agencies as well as in state and federal courts. The role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Supporting attorneys through all stages of litigation including discovery, hearing, arbitration, and trial preparation
  • Handling correspondence and administrative tasks such as answering phones, managing email communications, scheduling, and coordinating with clients, courts, and vendors
  • Conducting e-filing in state and federal courts, performing bates numbering and redaction
  • Managing attorney calendars, monitoring deadlines, and coordinating meetings such as mediations, depositions, and arbitrations
  • Processing monthly expense reports and assisting with time entry and billing review
  • Formatting and proofreading legal documents for accuracy, grammar, and completeness
  • Maintaining organized physical and electronic files
  • Facilitating the client intake and conflict check process
  • Assisting with attorney public speaking and training engagement logistics
  • Managing multiple tasks and deadlines with professionalism and a proactive mindset

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

 

  • Minimum 4 years of defense litigation experience
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and legal technology, including time entry and e-filing systems
  • Familiarity with electronic document management systems preferred
  • Ability to type 65+ WPM
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage deadlines effectively
  • A high school diploma is required; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree is a plus
  • A professional, positive, and solutions-oriented approach
