Job Description

This role is ideal for LPNs who are experienced in medication management, patient monitoring, and providing quality care in a structured healthcare environment. The LPN will play a critical role in ensuring safe and accurate medication administration while supporting the overall health and wellness of patients. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to remain calm and professional while working with a diverse patient population in a secure setting. Experience in correctional healthcare, behavioral health, psychiatric care, emergency care, long-term care, or medical-surgical nursing is preferred. Candidates should be reliable, team-oriented, and committed to maintaining high standards of patient safety and care.

Responsibilities

  • Administer medications accurately and safely according to physician orders and established nursing protocols.
  • Perform medication passes and monitor patients for medication effectiveness, side effects, and adverse reactions.
  • Verify medication records, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure compliance with medication administration procedures.
  • Conduct routine patient observations and report changes in patient condition to the RN or healthcare provider.
  • Assist with nursing assessments, treatments, and ongoing patient care needs.
  • Support chronic disease management, behavioral health needs, and routine healthcare services.
  • Obtain vital signs and monitor patient health status as assigned.
  • Provide patient education related to medications, treatments, and healthcare needs.
  • Maintain timely and complete documentation in medical records.
  • Collaborate with RNs, physicians, healthcare providers, and facility staff to support coordinated patient care.
  • Follow infection control practices, safety procedures, and correctional healthcare policies.
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and respect when interacting with patients and staff.

Full-Time:

  • 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  • 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
  • 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Part-Time:

  • Minimum 3 days/week, including 1 weekend day
  • Weekend-Only option available

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Active Washington, DC Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) License.
  • Minimum 2 years of LPN experience required.
  • Strong medication administration experience required.
  • Experience in correctional healthcare, behavioral health, psychiatric, emergency, long-term care, or medical-surgical settings preferred.
  • Knowledge of medication protocols, documentation standards, and patient safety practices.
  • Strong communication, organization, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a healthcare team.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in a secure environment.
  • Reliable, dependable, and team-oriented approach to patient care.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification preferred.
  • Ability to successfully complete facility onboarding, credentialing, and security clearance requirements.
