Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our healthcare team. The LPN will primarily work in the clinic, providing essential healthcare services to incarcerated individuals. The ideal candidate will have a valid DC Nursing License and demonstrate excellent clinical skills, professionalism, and the ability to work effectively in a correctional setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing care and treatment to patients.
  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments and screenings for incarcerated individuals.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers.
  • Assist in medical emergencies and provide critical care as needed.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in accordance with facility guidelines.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare team members to ensure quality care for all patients.
  • Ensure adherence to all healthcare policies and procedures specific to a correctional environment.

 

Shift: 11p-7a

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • Must be a licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the District of Columbia (DC).
  • At least 2 years of experience as an LPN, preferably in a healthcare facility, correctional setting, or other institutional environment.
  • Experience administering medications and monitoring patient responses.
  • Ability to provide basic medical care, including monitoring vital signs, wound care, and assisting with physical exams.
  • Comfort with handling medical situations in a correctional environment, which may involve high-stress situations or challenging patient behavior.

 

We do require the following:

  • Valid LPN license in Washington, DC.
  • Copy of current CPR certification card.
  • Copy of LPN diploma from an accredited nursing program.
  • Proof of required vaccinations and screenings, including:
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination form.
  • Flu vaccination or declination form (2024).
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella) vaccination.
  • PPD (Tuberculosis) test or Chest X-ray (completed within the last 12 months, or Chest X-ray within the last 5 years).
  • Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis) vaccination (within the last 10 years).
  • Varicella (Chickenpox) vaccination.
  • COVID-19 vaccination: Complete series (Johnson & Johnson: both doses, or Pfizer: both doses plus booster).
