Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our healthcare team. The LPN will primarily work in the clinic, providing essential healthcare services . The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent clinical skills, professionalism, and the ability to work effectively.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Obtain vital signs and initial patient histories.
  • Assist with patient intake, including health screenings and identifying immediate care needs.
  • Administer medications (oral, topical, etc.) as prescribed; monitor patients for adverse reactions. 
  • Provide wound care and assist with medical procedures under supervision (e.g. dressing changes, I&Ds when delegated) 
  • Document all nursing actions, patient interactions, medication administration, and changes in health status in medical records (electronic or paper) in a timely manner. 
  • Monitor the health and mental status of inmates; notify RNs or physicians of urgent needs, unusual symptoms, or behavioral changes. 
  • Collaborate with medical and custodial staff to coordinate care: referrals, follow-ups, consults. 
  • Ensure medication storage, supply ordering, and inventory are maintained properly; assist with ensuring secure handling of medications. 
  • Adhere to all policies: safety, privacy/HIPAA, infection control, and security protocols.

 

Shift: Monday-Friday 7a-3p or 3p-11p with weekend availability 

 

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • Must be a licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the District of Columbia (DC).
  • At least 2 years of experience as an LPN.
  • Experience administering medications and monitoring patient responses.
  • Ability to provide basic medical care, including monitoring vital signs, wound care, and assisting with physical exams.
  • Comfort with handling medical situations which may involve high-stress situations or challenging patient behavior.
