Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Professional Development Coordinator to join our team. This role supports the integration, development, and ongoing engagement of attorneys across the firm. The ideal candidate will bring a strong service mindset, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

 

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Senior Manager of Professional Development to support the design and execution of attorney onboarding programs. Responsibilities include drafting welcome communications, coordinating orientation schedules, and managing logistics to ensure smooth integration.
  • Serve as a liaison between administrative departments and practice groups to ensure a seamless onboarding and orientation experience for all new associates.
  • Manage associate arrivals and departures in Workday, ensuring timely and accurate processing of hiring and termination workflows.
  • Independently track and document key integration and development milestones, including onboarding check-ins, professional development discussions, and promotion readiness. Maintain accurate records of practice group assignments, leadership and mentor pairings, and role changes.
  • Process advance payment requests for incoming associates, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
  • Support the Director of Attorney & Alumni Relations in managing bar renewal, immigration, and alumni initiatives. Responsibilities include administering D.C. Bar payments, tracking attorney bar membership statuses, coordinating the annual renewal process, assisting with visa and immigration logistics, and updating alumni records through research and database searches.
  • Assist in the coordination of Professional Development programs, including onboarding announcements, web page updates, development roadmaps, and orientation materials.
  • Contribute to the associate mentoring program by organizing welcome lunches and assisting with mentor-mentee pairings and engagement strategies.
  • Coordinate with other offices to distribute monthly mentoring topics and reminders firmwide.
  • Plan and support meetings, social gatherings, and other engagement initiatives that foster collaboration and firm culture.
  • Compile and analyze data for reports on performance trends, utilization metrics, and staffing patterns.
  • Provide administrative support to the Senior Director of Professional Development and assist with special projects as assigned.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed.
  • Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality, discretion, and professionalism in handling sensitive firm and client information.

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a law firm.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and keen attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage frequent interruptions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with excellent interpersonal skills to build effective working relationships with attorneys and staff.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required; experience with Workday and/or ViRecruit is a plus.
