Our client, a boutique law firm in Northern Virginia, is seeking a Legal Administrative Assistant to provide high-level administrative and operational support to attorneys handling criminal defense and civil litigation matters. This role supports the day-to-day flow of the office and requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion. Fluency in Spanish is required to effectively communicate with clients.
Criminal & Civil Litigation Support
Assisting with filing documents in state and local courts
Maintaining and organizing physical and electronic case files
Supporting attorneys with document preparation, discovery organization, and case materials
Communicating with clients, courts, and opposing counsel as directed
Administrative Support
Answering and screening incoming phone calls and greeting clients professionally
Managing attorney calendars, including court dates, deadlines, and appointments
Drafting, formatting, and proofreading legal correspondence and administrative documents
Preparing, scanning, photocopying, and assembling binders for hearings, trials, and meetings
Opening, sorting, and distributing mail and correspondence
Maintaining case management systems and ensuring filing accuracy
Monitoring deadlines and supporting compliance with court rules
Maintaining confidentiality when handling sensitive and privileged information
Performing general administrative duties and other tasks as assigned
Prior experience as a legal administrative assistant, legal assistant, or law firm administrative professional
Fluent in Spanish (spoken and written)
Working knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures, and filing practices
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
Strong organizational, proofreading, and multitasking skills
Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Professional written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Ability to lift and carry files, boxes, or binders up to 25 lbs
Experience supporting criminal defense or civil litigation practices
Familiarity with Virginia and local court procedures
Additional legal or administrative training
