Job Description

A national law firm located in metro accessible Washington, DC is seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant.  This is a hybrid opportunity - 3 days in the office and two days remote.  Individual must be flexible to come in if one of the partners needs you.  

Responsibilities:

  • Experience handling multiple attorneys with full caseloads
  • Coordinate heavy scheduling and calendaring for attorney meetings, court deadlines, depositions, etc.
  • Document production and organization a must. Organize records, documents, correspondence, and files into a manageable format
  • Provide support by drafting correspondence, memoranda and other legal documents
  • Prepare files and/or binders for hearings, depositions, meetings and trial
  • Assist with client engagement and retention, including preparation of engagement letter, conflict check, conflict waivers, and submitting information to open matters
  • Ability to think and act independently and with minimal supervision
  • Articulate, organized and collaborates well with the team.
  • Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Handles monthly billing, expense reports, and processes invoices
  • Must demonstrate a strong worth ethic and consistent schedule

Job Requirements

  • BA/BS in related field
  • 3+ years of experience in a legal environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor with the ability to work under pressure and in a detailed, deadline-driven environment.
  • Technical proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook. Experience with Nuance and DocXTools is preferred.
  • Strong proof reading and editing skills.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Possess a high degree of flexibility and ability to adapt to changing needs.
