Job Description

Our client in the not-for profit industry is seeking a Lead Grants Administrator to perform complex analysis, research, writing, or project management. The Lead Grants Administrator is responsible for collaborating with program staff providing internal functional activities and performs extremely complex analysis. If this sounds like you, we are looking for someone with experience in high-level grants administration and management.

Job Requirements

Candidate must be able to:

  • Collaborating with program staff to develop budgets for proposals and work plans
  • Read, interpret, and assist program staff in understanding instructions in funding opportunity announcements
  • Inputting program and budget information in the accounting software used to monitor program activity
  • Developing timelines and briefing papers for grants
  • Setting up and maintaining various spreadsheets and schedules (including time sheets) used to calculate and record grant activity
  • Producing proposal budget worksheets, producing budget narratives for grants, reviewing grant proposals, and compiling grant application  
  • Prepare, review, approve, and submit both paper and electronic grant applications for Federal and non-Federal sponsors
  • Producing financial reports, spending projections, and revenue calculations for grants
  • Providing quarterly training on applicable funder policies, procedures and requirements
  • Create new policies and procedures in effort to maintain compliance with funder requirements
  • Assisting with the annual audit


  • Bachelor's degree in relevant professional field with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience and/or advanced technical training; or equivalent combination of education and experience, including a relevant certification. An advanced degree may be substituted for work experience. Master’s degree in a relevant field preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportion, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Spreadsheet and word processing software experience required
