Job Description

Long-term contract working for a Federal Government Agency has an immediate opening for an Inventory Management Specialist.  This staff member will  perform the full range of property management operations which include the acquisition, receiving, and accountability of equipment, parts, products and supplies and the processing of excess/surplus property. Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Maintains inventory control records in an automated system for items or parts needed in organization support and maintenance programs.
  • The employee monitors usage transactions, tracks the timing of reorder actions, verifies cost changes for parts and sub-assemblies, and generally observes activity in the account to ensure that parts, products and supplies are available when required.
  • Performs or leads inventory control work when such work involves establishing lead times for ordering and staging material and tracking and adjusting inventory levels for systems in use.
  • Participates in studies and surveys to improve effectiveness and efficiency; and recommends process and procedural changes.
  • Determines resource requirements and prepares input for budget for new equipment, parts and supplies.
  • Recommends and collaborates closely with supervisor and higher level officials in making decisions relating to major changes in work plans or operations.
  • Coordinates work operations with other organizations to ensure effective programs and service and resolve problems.
  • Consults with managers to resolve technical or operational problems not covered by precedents or established policies.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Must hold valid driver’s license and be able to lift 50 pounds, as well as perform related duties as assigned.
  • Experience driving a large box truck
  • 2-3 years’ experience managing large quantities of inventory in a warehouse.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with people at all levels.
  • Due to the nature of the agency and emergency operations, contractors may be called upon to perform emergency operations duties outside the realm of their expertise.
  • Other duties as assigned may vary significantly from the primary duties of the position.
