Job Description

You will be responsible for handling the initial stages of patient intake and assisting with various administrative tasks related to patient care. Must be a DC resident. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Collect and verify patient information such as personal details, medical history, and insurance information.
  • Ensure that all required forms and documentation are completed and signed by patients before their visit or appointment.
  • Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits before appointments or treatments.
  • Confirm eligibility and ensure that the patient's insurance will cover the necessary services.
  • Schedule patient appointments, follow-ups, and diagnostic procedures based on physician availability and patient preferences.
  • Confirm appointments via phone or email and handle any scheduling changes or cancellations.
  • Accurately enter patient data into electronic health records (EHR) or other medical record systems.
  • Ensure patient information is updated and maintained in accordance with healthcare regulations and privacy laws (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Communicate with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare staff to ensure smooth transitions for patient care.
  • Provide necessary documentation to healthcare providers, such as referrals or medical records.
  • Provide excellent customer service by answering patient inquiries regarding services, insurance, billing, or general information.
  • Help patients navigate the intake process, addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
  • Assist with billing questions, payments, and co-pays.
  • Provide patients with billing information and explain insurance coverage and out-of-pocket costs.
  • Ensure all intake procedures comply with healthcare regulations, including patient confidentiality laws (HIPAA).
  • Maintain accurate records of all interactions and documents associated with patient intake.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma is typically required, but an associate’s degree in healthcare administration, medical office administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Prior experience in healthcare administration, patient intake, or customer service.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with patients, healthcare providers, and other administrative staff.
  • Ability to accurately collect and input sensitive patient data and ensure all forms are completed correctly.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and healthcare management software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, as the position involves frequent direct contact with patients and their families.
