Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will hold an active DC LPN license and bring strong clinical skills, excellent communication, and a caring approach to patient support.

Job Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Obtains vital signs and patient history.
  • Initiates prescribed medical care plan for each patient.
  • Assists with obtaining consultations and referrals with other agencies.
  • Performs nursing procedures (blood studies, urinalyses, pregnancy tests, and venipuncture if needed)
  • Administers immunization techniques and general knowledge of vaccination, where applicable
  • Assists with clinical/medical procedures (i.e. pelvic exam, I&D an wound care).
  • Records in a timely manner, documentation of medication administration and/or treatment rendered
  • Provides patient and family education
  • Assures that adequate medications and supplies are ordered as appropriate to allow efficient health center functioning
  • Communicates with all staff to assure patient needs are met
  • Performs all other related duties and responsibilities

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing School
  • Licensed or eligibility in DC
  • One year of experience in an ambulatory care setting, including experience with homeless or other special needs populations

KSAs (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

  • Demonstrates ability to communicate and work with diverse populations.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with business software (Microsoft Office Suite)

Supervisory Controls

This role reports to the Nurse Manager for clinical supervision.
