Job Description

We are seeking a DC licensed Registered Nurse (RN) to provide comprehensive nursing care in a secure correctional environment. This role is ideal for an experienced RN with a background in psychiatric nursing and/or medical-surgical care who is confident working with diverse and complex patient populations.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide direct nursing care to individuals, including assessment, treatment, and monitoring of medical and psychiatric conditions.
  • Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and established protocols.
  • Perform physical assessments, triage patients, and respond to medical emergencies.
  • Monitor and document patient conditions, progress, and responses to treatment accurately and timely.
  • Collaborate with physicians, mental health professionals, and staff to ensure continuity of care.
  • Support patients with chronic illnesses, acute medical needs, and behavioral health concerns.
  • Maintain compliance with correctional healthcare standards, safety protocols, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Educate patients on health conditions, medications, and treatment plans as appropriate.

 

Shifts: 11p-7:30a or 3p-11:30p (must be able to work a minimum of three days per week)

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

 

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington, D.C.
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in psychiatric nursing and/or medical-surgical settings.
  • Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, structured, and secure environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
