As a Physician in a correctional healthcare setting, you will provide comprehensive, high-quality medical care to patients with diverse healthcare needs. You will develop individualized treatment plans, manage both acute and chronic conditions, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to promote positive health outcomes. Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) with an active, unrestricted Virginia medical license.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage a broad range of acute and chronic illnesses.
• Conduct comprehensive medical evaluations and physical examinations.
• Develop, implement, and monitor patient-centered treatment plans, including prescriptions and follow-ups.
• Educate patients on their conditions, medications, and preventive care practices.
• Collaborate with nurses, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
• Refer patients to external specialists when advanced care is required.
• Maintain accurate and compliant electronic health records (EHR).
• Adhere to facility policies and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
• Stay current on medical guidelines, standards of care, and best practices.

Qualifications

• MD or DO with an active, unrestricted Virginia medical license.
• Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience, preferably in correctional, urgent care, or primary care settings.
• Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation abilities.
• Proficiency with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a secure facility environment.
