Job Description

This full-time administrative role supports admissions operations within a Health Care Center while also coordinating biweekly nursing payroll. The position plays a key role in maintaining census targets, managing referrals, verifying insurance, and serving as a liaison with hospitals, insurance providers, and internal clinical teams.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Coordinate admissions for short-term rehabilitation and long-term care

  • Manage referrals, medical records, admission packets, and required documentation

  • Verify Medicare and commercial insurance eligibility and benefits

  • Respond to admission inquiries within one hour, working closely with hospital discharge planners, social workers, families, and prospective residents

  • Develop and maintain relationships with hospital discharge planners and other referral sources

  • Monitor hospitalized residents and coordinate discharge planning

  • Coordinate room readiness with Facilities and Environmental Services

  • Serve as liaison with Medicare Advantage and HMO/PPO plans, including authorizations, benefits verification, case management updates, and family communication

  • Process and approve biweekly nursing payroll

  • Serve as backup for quarterly Payroll-Based Journaling submissions

  • Maintain and update Plan-of-Care schedules

  • Order office supplies and manage administrative support needs

  • Distribute mail and maintain resident census and registers

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (Healthcare, Social Work, or related field)

  • Strong knowledge of Medicare and commercial insurance plans

  • General understanding of medical terminology, diagnoses, and scopes of care

  • Ability to review admission contracts and clearly explain terms to residents and families

  • Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills
