Job Description

Our client in the non-profit industry is seeking a Communications Associate to manage a variety of marketing and communications tasks. The Communications Associate will be responsible for creating, editing, and managing a variety of marketing and communication materials, website content, publications and so much more. If this sounds like you, we are looking for someone with Adobe and InDesign experience (required).

Job Requirements

Candidate must be able to:

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Work with the Editor to format the quarterly magazine using Word Doc and InDesign
  • Edit and proofread all communications materials, including newsletters, press releases, social media posts, and marketing collateral
  • Develop and execute marketing campaigns, including email marketing, social media marketing, and online/print advertising
  • Monitor and analyze metrics to measure the success of the organization website 
  • Proficiency in social media platforms and experience creating and executing successful social media campaigns

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field
  • Work in the office in Alexandria, VA 30 - 40 hours/wk with core hours M-F from 10am - 2pm
  • 1+ years of experience in communications and/or marketing, with a focus on editing and content creation is a plus but not required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Basic knowledge of SharePoint preferred but not required
  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign required. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite programs preferred but not required
  • Familiarity with website content management systems (CMS), SEO best practices, and Google Analytics preferred but not required
  • Excellent writing ability (grammar and content)
  • Competency with WordPress, InDesign, PhotoShop, Publisher, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong attention to details
  • Organized and able to multitask
  • Enjoy variety of tasks
  • Enjoy working as part of a small team
  • Enjoy helping co-workers
  • Experience with Blackbaud eTapestry, Canva, and Acrobat desirable
  • Experience with managing social media desirable
