Job Description

In a senior living facility in Washington, DC, a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with Medication Technician (Med Tech) responsibilities plays a crucial role in delivering comprehensive care to residents. This dual-role position combines direct patient care with medication management, ensuring residents receive both physical and medical support.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
  • Under the supervision of licensed nursing staff, administer prescribed medications to residents, adhering to the five rights of medication administration.
  • Regularly check and record residents' vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse, reporting any significant changes to the healthcare team.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient care, medication administration, and observations in compliance with facility policies and regulatory standards.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering a comfortable and caring environment.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Must hold a current, valid CNA certification in Washington, DC.
  • Experience with drawing blood and administer medications or have completed an accredited Med Tech training program and hold current certification to administer medications.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting, especially in a senior living or long-term care facility, is highly preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact effectively with residents, families, and team members.
  • Attention to detail and ability to perform basic medical tasks (e.g., vital sign monitoring, medication administration).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Compassionate, patient, and dedicated to providing high-quality care to elderly individuals.
