Job Description

The Medical Assistant will provide essential clinical support services, including patient intake, basic health screenings, documentation, and coordination of care under the direction of licensed healthcare professionals. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interact professionally with patients and healthcare staff in a secure environment. This role is well suited for a Medical Assistant who is comfortable performing routine clinical duties while contributing to efficient patient flow and quality healthcare delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient intake procedures, including collecting demographic information, medical history, and health-related documentation.
  • Obtain and record vital signs, height, weight, and other basic health measurements.
  • Assist healthcare providers and nursing staff with routine clinical support tasks.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, assessments, and healthcare appointments.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in medical records and healthcare systems.
  • Support patient flow by coordinating intake processes and assisting with scheduling needs.
  • Communicate patient information and concerns to appropriate healthcare team members.
  • Assist with maintaining organized medical records and documentation.
  • Follow infection control practices, safety procedures, and facility healthcare protocols.
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and respect when interacting with patients and staff.
  • Provide administrative and clinical support as needed to ensure efficient healthcare operations.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Active Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification required.
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical Assistant experience required.
  • Must have blood draw experience. 
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
  • Experience with patient intake, vital signs, clinical documentation, and healthcare workflows.
  • Correctional healthcare, behavioral health, emergency, urgent care, hospital, or primary care experience.
  • Strong communication, organization, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and focused in a secure environment.
  • Reliable, dependable, and team-oriented.
  • Ability to successfully complete facility onboarding and security requirements.
